Street Cred: I have been a Lincoln High School teacher since 2002. I have a MA in literature from Mills College, a MA degree in Education from SFSU, a CLAD teaching credential from SFSU and a B.A. in Literature and Women’s Studies from the University of California of Santa Cruz.

Me: I enjoy the creative challenges of teaching and learning. I am enthusiastic about teaching because I love to learn, and I love to learn with and from my students. I hope in my class, you begin to understand how to read and write in a more complex and expressive way. I have no life outside of teaching Wink.

American Literature::

Summer Reading: if you are entering American Literature you need to choose one of the following books to read over the summer: Slaughter House Five by Kurt Vonnegut OR The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. Pay attention to plot, character, tone and theme. Take some notes including significant passages, ideas and questions. We will have an assessment over your book in about two weeks.

Supplies needed for this class:

Assignment notebook 

3 ring binder (or section of large binder)

Binder dividers (3)  and a 3 ring folder

loose leaf paper

Spiral notebook for reading journal

Blue/black ink pens, pencil 

White out 

10th Graders:

If you are entering 10th grade be sure to do the summer reading. Choose one of the following: Chinese Cinderella by Monster by Walter Dean Myers. Pay attention to plot, character, tone and theme. Take some notes including significant passages, ideas and questions. There will be an assessment in about two weeks.

Honors: American Literature:

Honors American Literature: read The Unvanquished by Faulkner, the Faulkner speech and answer the questions.
